There are 82 games, man.  No reason to go all Eeyore after something like that.  You just remind yourself how much fun it is to watch Dirk Nowitzki and you get ready for the next one.

If you base your entire opinion of what the Mavs are on that game alone, then you must have missed the game where the Mavs used a team effort (albeit without the Mavs second-best player) beat the living crap out of the champion Lakers on their own floor.

It's not that.  You don't see the Mavs need to get 30 pts every 4th quarter from Dirk to win games.  Sometimes it happens.  Dirk is amazing.  This team is trying to win games with a lot of new faces.  At this point I will take the win and admire the unbelievablely awesome performance by Dirk.

Peace to all,

The Czar

Totally agree. Just like we didn't start printing tickets to the NBA Finals after the great game against the Lakers.
It's a long season and you have some really highs and really lows and you just hope to manage your way through the lows and try not to get to over confident about your highs.

Would you do Gooden (instantly save $3 million), Williams (expiring) and Robo (prospect) for Camby?

As much as I would love to see Robo's potential, yes I would in a heartbeat.  We aren't playing for 4 years from now.  Our window with Dirk as the centerpiece of a title run is probably 2 or maybe 3 seasons.  Camby to protect the rim and spell Damps for just some expirings and Robo is a deal I do and don't look back.  Camby will rebound, block shots, protect the rim, and even has a few decent offensive moves in the post as well.  He's old, but so is everyone else on our team.  We are a team of older vets trying for that one last hurrah.  I want to go all in while we still have Dirk and then figure out what we are going to do to rebuild when Dirk is gone, unless we just can't compete with the elites because of that missing piece at the 5.  I want to give Dirk one more shot at the finals because if he gets there again he won't let us lose.  He wants it too badly.  Probably hungrier for it than any player in the league IMHO.  Dirk lives to bring a title to Dallas.  I really hope we are doing everything we can to help him do that.

Peace to all,

The Czar

Fair enough.   In case people here haven't guessed it, though I am NOT a fan of this team, I AM a fan of Dirk.

...then hopefully you wish him the success that he plays his heart out for every night.  If you wish otherwise, I think that you may just be a fan of bitterness.

Czar is right. We are playing for now or as long as we have Dirk = now.
I don't give a crap who is starting in 4 years. I want to know who is playing this year and next year and how ever long Dirk is here.
If we don't win a title between now and the time Dirk retires, do you honestly think we can win a title once he is gone? forget it.

Win Baby, Win Now.

We are also playing for next year.

With Jet and Kidd's age, you want RoBo.  Personally, I think that RoBo is a better player than Camby next season.  Maybe even by the end of this one.

RoBo has a complete game, and on top of that he has the athletic package of an NBA superstar.

Camby is a hope and a prayer and certainly is not what would put the Mavs over the top.  Getting another player like RoBo in the latter parts of the next draft is pretty much impossible.
